Name: Azazael

Species: Hollow Worm/“God Worm”

Gender: Male

Description: The legends state that Azazael was, much like T’Chark, a giant of a worm. His skin was said to be sharper and spikier, and was coloured a dark shade of crimson red. He had a small set of centipede like legs up the front, while the rest of his body was worm or snake like.

Some say he had two small horns at the top of his head, a large mouth with dagger like teeth and a serpent tongue.

Bio: When T’Chark was buried by Myrrah’s new testament, there was another worm god who was buried even further. This was the legendary Worm God Azazael, who held the title of “Judgement” in the original Trinity of Worms.

There are many stories surrounding the original trinity and how they formed the hollows. It is said that Azazael not only helped form the Hollows and guide the primitive Locust to better lives, but that he was also the father of T’Chark’s children. Many murals depict him alongside T’Chark as she is coiled around a clutch of children, each with their own name and title of what they represented.

In the old Testament, Azazael represented Judgment. The legends say that the souls of the dead were bought to him and he would decide if they were good or evil. Should a soul be good, they would be passed on to T’Chark’s loving embrace. However, if they were considered evil, Azazael would toss them into the underworld, where the Demon King would ensure they would not escape and corrupt the souls of the good.

Just like T’Chark, Azazael was said to have a small race of creatures that resided inside his body, and that they protected him from any “internal intruders” unlike T’Chark’s guards, there are no depictions of them whatsoever, so they remain an even bigger mystery.

While T’Chark spoke through her chosen, and the Demon King speaks through the dead, it is unknown how Azazael spoke to his followers. Some say dreams, others say he didn’t speak at all, but rather, showed good signs of fortune to those that did well, and bad signs to those who committed evil.

Azazael never saw the atrocities committed by Myrrah’s new testament, for he did not live long enough to find out. A tragic and mysterious event in the old testament was his death. At some point, Azazael perished, though how is not known. There is constant rumours circulated in thoughts, but never out loud. As a sign of respect, most Kantus keep their beliefs at to Azazael’s death to themselves.

The Kantus also do not speak of his death to T’Chark, for the goddess does not like to speak of about the death of her fellow god… and father to her children.

Followers: Much like T’Chark and the Demon King, Azazael had many followers, who created temples, shrines and monuments as a sign of respect and loyalty to their god. However, many of these relics have long since been lost to the passages of time, and many of the followers were killed by Myrrah’s inquisitors, as they refused to let go of their “mistaken” beliefs.
